Candid has enjoyed a stunning start to 2020 with six highly successful property and construction related stories in six days, all generating big headlines and lots of lovely, positive PR coverage for our clients.
First up we had a story about Yorkshire’s LCF Law significantly expanding its Leeds city centre office into 6,000 sq ft of newly refurbished space at 33 Park Place.
Then Adept Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers and construction giant ISG completed work on a 180,000 sq ft mega unit for Sports Direct in Glasgow, that houses several of the company’s retail brands, as well as a state-of-the-art gym, all under one roof.
Next, we issued a nice tale about leading Yorkshire estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley making a double appointment at its Guiseley office as part of the company’s commitment to developing the future talent of the property industry.
This was followed by news about an extensive refurbishment programme at a development of 58 retirement apartments owned by Anchor Hanover, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people. Hanover House was originally built in the 1960s and is located between Halifax and Sowerby Bridge, just off the A58. The refurbishment programme has been designed by Leeds based Brewster Bye Architects and Bradford based Bermar Building Company is the main contractor.
Another big story of ours this week was about Yorkshire construction company, Harris CM, and property consultancy, NPS Barnsley, starting work on a £1.7 million contract that will transform an existing office building in Barnsley into an innovative workspace – see piecture. Covering 24,433 sq ft over four storeys, the scheme will form part of the town’s acclaimed Digital Media Centre and will create over 100 digitally skilled jobs in the local economy.
Finally, we rounded off the first full week back with news about York based property and development company S Harrison building on its record 2018 with another impressive set of financial results for 2019. The company anticipates a 2019 pre-tax profit of over £4m on a turnover of £19m, with a balance sheet approaching £60m and cash reserves at the end of the year topping £18m.
However, it’s worth remembering property and construction work is only half of what we do and in early January we’ve already generated headlines and coverage for clients across the recruitment, healthcare, veterinary and legal industries to name but a few.
